Firefighters say a brake malfunction sparked a raging tractor trailer fire on I-78 Monday night in Windsor Township.
Part of the highway had to be closed while crews responded to fight the flames.
The truck was hauling merchandise for Dollar General.

Crews from 61 were sent to assist Co 40 with a reported chimney fire, Deputy 40 arrived with a possible chimney fire requested co 40 and ladder 61 to continue in with the rest of the structure fire dispatch. Ladder 61 took A side and crews went to work throwing ground ladders and laddering the main roof, where they placed chimney operations in-services while other crews worked to clean inside fire box area. No Extension found, roof opps dropped chains to clear block. Deputy 40 Delong had command crews extinguished the fire and returned into service. Units on the scene were 40, 61, 38, 37 and EMS

Travel on Interstate 78 in Berks County was halted for a time Thursday morning while crews airlifted a truck driver to the hospital.
A helicopter landed on I-78 near mile marker 26.4 in Tilden Twp. after a truck carrying a clay-type material rolled over on its side, trapping the driver.
Police closed the interstate in both directions while the chopper landed on the highway. The accident happened between Hamburg and Shartlesville.
There's no word on the condition of the driver or what may have caused the accident, which happened around 10:30 a.m.
Eastbound lanes were open, but the right lane in the westbound lane was closed while crews work cleaned up the mess. All westbound lanes reopened around 3 p.m. Wednesday.
